June EAA 92 General Meeting — Short Takeoff and Landing -STOL Aircraft
June 2 @ 7:00 pm
-Short Takeoff and Landing- STOL Aircraft
Our speaker, Paul Buller, will share his experience purchasing a Maule STOL Aircraft in Alaska, and planning, preparing and executing the international cross county flight to California.
STOL aircraft (Short Takeoff and Landing) are airplanes engineered to operate from exceptionally short, unpaved runways or rugged, remote terrain. They achieve these capabilities through lightweight airframes, high-lift wing designs, large flaps, and specialized oversized “tundra” tires that absorb impacts on rough airstrips.
Paul’s presentation will include a view into his experience in planning and executing his international flight bringing his new plane from Alaska to California, encountering weather, navigation, and many other challenges.
Paul is a CFI and long time corporate pilot, with years of experience piloting Gulfstream aircraft. He will share with us some of that experience as well, with a unique insight into the Gulfstream models and variations. Paul currently provides tail wheel (tail dragging) and high performance endorsement instructions.
