What is Air Academy?

“Fun and discovery combine for an experience that young people can find nowhere else at the EAA Air Academy, a series of weeklong camps designed to introduce young people ages 12-18 to the aviation world.

Campers are engaged through a variety of hands-on activities while staying at the EAA Air Academy Lodge in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Experienced aviation instructors help them delve into flight through studies, hands-on demonstrations, flight simulation, and other exciting activities.” –EAA

The Scholarship

Each year, Chapter 92 hand-selects 1–2 Young Eagles to receive a no-cost (or almost no-cost) scholarship to attend Air Academy Basic Camp (for campers age 14-15 in July during the camp). Applicants are selected based on the following:

  • Passion for aviation, whether as a hobby or future career
  • Commitment to EAA 92 (attend meetings, volunteer at events, etc.)
  • Eagerness to learn about aircraft and aircraft building
  • Self-driven character

We hope and intend for this scholarship to be a gateway to even further involvement in EAA 92, and the aviation community in general.

If you are interested in the program, feel free to apply for the 2024 scholarship. In late 2023 we will reserve two spots for the 14–15 year old age group, Basic Camp, in July, 2024. Please download the linked application form, fill in the appropriate information, and upload the application below (or email to Membership@EAA92.org. (Do not send the application to EAA directly.) Be sure to attach the Participant’s Letter of Application detailing your interest in aviation and your interest in attending the Air Academy. The application deadline is March 30, 2024.  Scholarship recipients will be selected and contacted for a final interview in April.
