ENGINEERS + HUMAN FACTORS + PILOTS (Clash of the Titans) : Engineers use their skills to design planes. Pilots use their skills to fly them. Unfortunately, those skills do not always match. When it comes to aircraft systems and cockpit design, Human Factors is about much more than chair height.
A mis-match of the Human Factors in an aircraft design to the human pilots who must fly the aircraft can have tragic results. This talk is all about creating an understanding of needed considerations in the designs.
Presented at the Orange County AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics) Conference, April 2016, by Larry Severson, EAA92 Flight Advisor, Air Force Academy graduate, and former B-52 and airline Captain.
